Gastroscopy Exams can be incredibly beneficial for horses suffering from gastric ulcers. We can get a great view of the entire stomach to scan for any abnormalities. There are multiple different types of ulcers and mucosal erosions that can occur in the equine stomach. All of these can cause pain and significant decrease in performance. Understanding which type of ulcer is present greatly effects which type of treatment is needed. In the long run, this generally saves money instead of simply treating empirically. Our gastroscope images can be viewed during the exam by the owners as well. Pertinent images during the exam are saved electronically to your horse’s file for future reference.
