Kirk Johnson, DVM

Dr. Kirk Johnson, DVM

Dr. Johnson graduated from Michigan State University in 2011 as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. He has also been a Farrier since 2001. Dr. Lauren Magley, DVM

Dr. Lauren Magley graduated from the University of Tennessee in 2018. She has been riding horses since she was 7 years old and going into equine veterinary medicine was a no-brainer for her. Dr. Lauren has one dog, Tavi, and an off the track thoroughbred, Roady. When she has time to ride she mainly pursues 3 day eventing but she has tried a little bit of almost every discipline. Her other interests include hiking, camping and reading.

Dr. Katie Johnson, DVM

Dr. Katie graduated from Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2013 and completed a one year internship at BluePearl Veterinary Partners in 2014. Dr. Katie & Dr. Kirk met during her first year of vet school and she has been immersed in the horse world ever since. While she is a full time small animal associate at Family Friends Veterinary Hospital, she spends her ‘off’ time with Classic Equine in whatever capacity is needed. She often tends to the hospitalized emergency cases and has a passion for everything repro!
Her children consist of Tikka (a perfect golden retriever), Bella (a fat & sassy quarter horse mare), Colt & Ruger (2 adorable cats).

Dr. Skylar Thompson, DVM

Dr. Skylar Thompson was born and raised in Traverse City, Michigan. She earned her bachelor’s degree in biology with a business minor at Grand Valley State University before attending veterinary school at Michigan State University. During her time at Michigan State, Dr. Skylar fell in love with equine medicine and was awarded the American College of Veterinary Surgeon’s Large Animal Award. Following veterinary school, Dr. Skylar completed an internship with Cleveland Equine Clinic. She is excited to be back in Michigan and working for Classic Equine! Her professional interests include lameness, internal medicine and emergency medicine. In her free time Dr. Skylar enjoys running, playing rugby, spending time outdoors, and attending concerts.
